INTRODUCTION
The Republic of Uzbekistan became a full fledged member of the United Nations Organization on March 2, 1992. Upon becoming a member, Uzbekistan has enjoyed recognition by the international community as an independent republic. At present, eight UN agencies operate in Uzbekistan. The aim of UN System in Uzbekistan is to assist the Government in implementing the development reforms and provide support in the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals. This website provides the main information of the UN System activities in Uzbekistan . February has been a very productive month for a team of Y-PEER trainers from Namangan as they conducted several educational sessions on reproductive health and prevention of drug use and STI / HIV using peer education methods. Four sessions were held for students of the Pedagogical and Economy College of Namangan city with around 15 students participating in each seminar. Tashkent, 5 March 2010 - Ahead of March 8th- the International Women's Day, UNDP and the UN Information Center hold a bazaar of crafts produced by women with disabilities. This year's International Women's Day is celebrated under the theme "Equal Rights, Equal Opportunities: Progress for All", and underlines the importance of ensuring equality, dignity, economic and social liberty for women and girls. |
