Action Plan for 2010-2015 Marks a New Phase of Cooperation between UN, Uzbekistan

Three UN agencies and the Government of Uzbekistan have agreed on the action plan for 2010-2015. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) signed their respective Country Programme Action Plans last week following UNICEF's signing CPAP in late 2009.

The Uzbekistan officials are to take part in the fifth Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health to be held in Parma, Italy, 10-12 March 2010.

 RCC PROPOSAL - The preparation of the RCC proposal is ongoing and continues to involve a broad range of stakeholders. Last week the national working group finalized the narrative part of the proposal that will now be presented to the Government for its approval and endorsement. It is expected that the work plan and budget will also be finalized by the end of this week. The deadline for final submission of the proposal to the Global Fund is February 10, 2010.

§  RCC PROPOSAL – Following the Global Fund Board decision to rate Uzbekistan’s Rolling Continuation Channel proposal as a Category 3A proposal – not recommended for funding, applicant encouraged to re-submit after revision – the Multisectoral Expert Council to Ensure Close Cooperation and Coordination with International Foreign Organizations in the Response to HIV, Tuberculosis and Malaria and Mobilizing Donor Funding Activity Implementation (MEC) has decided to submit a revised proposal in RCC Wave 8. Re-submission of the application will require a major revision of the original document and a satisfactorily response to all the issues raised by the Technical Review Panel in its comment.
