VOLUNTEERISM

To succeed with development and achieving the global Millennium Development Goals it is important for people to get involved. To do so we need to encourage the active participation of local volunteers. Today volunteers are playing an important role worldwide in development of local communities and achieving the MDGs.

Volunteers in Action

"Volunteers in Action" is part of the UN website in Uzbekistan and will promote volunteer activities. Through the website volunteer activities across the country will receive increased visibility and further strengthen the cooperation between UN and local volunteers and among volunteers themselves. The website contains useful information about NGOs in Uzbekistan and resources.
The goals of "Volunteers in Action" are to;
   - Support and help further develop local volunteer activities
   - Strengthen the network between volunteers
   - Collaboration and sharing of experience
   - Effectively provide information about resources for volunteer activities
   - Increased visibility and knowledge of local volunteer activities
This is a joint initiative between UN agencies and partnering with NANNOUZ. It will support the efforts of local NGOs.

For whom:

The web site is for all members of NGOs, networks, youth organizations, volunteers and active public organizations.

How it will help:

The information available in this website will assist NGO members and volunteers in searching for useful and helpful information, finding the ways to collaborate and cooperate with each other, sharing ideas, as well as help encourage taking initiatives and endeavors.

Impressions on Kelajak Ovazi by Lorena Lombardozzi (UNV-UNODC)

In June, Fund Forum, which is a local NGO based in Tashkent, invited UNV to participate in their Kelajak ovozi Summer Training Camp, give a presentation on UNV activities in Uzbekistan, and lead activities for the attendees, who were mostly undergraduate students from different regions of Uzbekistan. The camp was held in the Kashkadarya region of Uzbekistan and as many as 500 talented and active boys and girls came together to share their ideas, youthful energy and creative endeavors.
